“A Rochdale Olympic, what’s that then”?

This was the question that has now led me to having 2 loves of

my life, my family and my Rochdale Olympic!

When I first started dating my wife her father had a Rochdale Olympic in the garage which he had been intending to restore for a number of years. Unfortunately he found he didn't have the time as he was  in the Bristol owners club and owning a classic Bristol 406 took up most of his spare time. Now, wanting to impress my future father in law I offered to buy this Rochdale off him so I could return it to its former glory. It was at this point that i should maybe have just bought him a drink down the pub and just had a manly chat! Little did i realise the amount of work this little car would need!

Once the hand of his daughter was well and truly stuck to mine then my intentions turned to the Rochdale Olympic. 5 years on and the car is slowly starting to get back together

The main reason I started this website was to just document the rebuild of this classic car or maybe help some people with their own Olympics or maybe i’ll just be able to get some advice? Either way there’s no harm in showing the world my pride and joy and if this website at least inspires a few more projects that have been languishing in the bottom of the garden back onto the road then “job’s a good’un”.

Now for a little disclaimer!

Contained in this website is a diary of my Rochdale Olympic Rebuild. I don’t profess to be a master mechanic or fibreglass expert and anything you see in here might not be "your way" but that's what a project like this is all about, getting stuck in and getting your hands dirty! A wise old mechanic once said to me “The right way to do something is your own way” Now although this is my philosophy on this rebuild I have had my head stuck in a few fibreglass repair books and have experience of 2 years in a Glider repair bay which has certainly provided me with some on the job training? If I think my repairs will work then that's usually the way i'm going to do them. Any advice is always welcome so feel free to get in touch if you think you can help me

out.
